Keep History close to your heart with this new Documentary First "Ours to Remember Why" tee.
This hoodie is steeped in history! In June 1944 a young WWII Army Signal Corps photographer took a solemn photograph of a battlefield cross, (an upside down rifle driven into the newly dug grave of it's owner with his helmet placed on top of the butt of the rifle), and gave it this title: "Ours not to reason why"
This title was a new take on a line from Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem of 1854, "The Charge of the Light Brigade": "Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die." Tennyson wrote his poem after hearing the bold but tragic news of the British cavalry attack on Russian forces at the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War, on October 25, 1854.
This WWII soldier's photo and it's title inspired our hoodie's logo and it's phrase "Theirs but to do and die, Ours to remember why." Is our own adaptation of Tennyson's famous line that gives us a new way to remind others that many brave men and women died so that we might live free.
